You’re In Charge Of How You Start Your Day!
When I mention that idea, a lot of the time I get a response like “You’re just a positive guy” or “you probably don’t have the stress I have” or “yeah but you’re not being realistic”.
First of all, I know “reality”. I’m a married guy with two great kids. Prior to building my home Internet business, I worked as a Military Policeman, Corrections Officer, Bodyguard, Counter Terrorist Professional, Combatives Instructor and more. I’ve dealt with bad guys in the USA and overseas, so I know how “reality” can mess with our heads. I’ve had money problems, marriage problems, and injuries that could have been career ending. But one of my mentors years ago told me that I’m in charge of how I perceive my environment and that I need to have (and practice) a good sense of humor or else I’ll end up an alcoholic with severe depression. Wow! Nice way to start a career, ‘eh?
Now, he was a successful operator and I model successful people! So, here’s a little tool I found to keep myself looking in the right direction.
Ask morning questions!
I really like this one and first heard about it from Anthony Robbins in his book “Awaken the Giant Within”. I’ve shortened the list a bit. Here’s what you do; every morning ask yourself these empowering questions and WRITE your answers on paper. If your first thought is a negative ‘nothing’ or ‘no one’ just start over and think, OK… but if I HAD TO put something positive down… what / who would it be? Here they are:
1. What am I excited about in my life right now?
2. What about it makes me excited?
3. What am I happy about in my life right now?
4. What about it makes me happy?
5. Who do I love?
6. Who loves me?
These morning questions are great because the way they are set up makes you recognize things you take for granted and then they really get you to feel those positive feelings.
Until next time!
